BALTIMORE (AP) — The Star Spangled Banner Flag House in Baltimore is opening a new exhibit about the creator of the flag that inspired the national anthem.

The museum is holding a ribbon cutting Tuesday morning for the opening of the new exhibit "Family of Flagmakers: The Women who Created the Star Spangled Banner."

The museum says this is the first exhibit to focus explicitly on the story of Mary Pickersgill, the woman who created the flag. It opens to the public on Wednesday.

The museum will also give the Mary Pickersgill Award for women's leadership in business to Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman at the exhibit opening. The award is named for Pickersgill, an entrepreneur and philanthropist.
