One of two deadly Saturday shootings has been ruled a homicide, Colorado Springs police said, but the name of the victim has not been released.
Police said the man killed early Saturday morning at the Pine Creek Village apartments at 960 Chapman Drive was 26 years old.
"We will not release any victims' identities because detectives are still in the process of doing line-ups and interviews, and we don't want to jeopardize the investigations," Police spokeswoman Lt. Catherine Buckley said Monday. The shooting, which happened at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, also left a 15-year-old girl with a non life-threatening gunshot wound, police said. Police said she is recovering.
Another man was killed and two injured in a second shooting, which happened just 22 hours later at a home on the 700 block of Winnepeg Drive around 11:30 p.m. Both injured men remained in critical condition, Colorado Springs police said Monday. Buckley said the shootings, less than three miles from each other, were not connected.
The autopsy for the man found dead at Winnepeg Drive will be conducted Tuesday, Buckley said.
The 26-year-old man's death is the city's sixth homicide this year. There were seven reported homicides this time last year.
