The Stultz Gultch fire south of Canon City is estimated at 5 to 7 acres Tuesday morning, according to a report by KRLN Radio.
In an unofficial statement from the Fremont County Sheriff's department, Capt Don Pinover said that there are 35 firefighters on the scene.
KRLN reported on its Facebook page Tuesday morning that the fire is burning on BLM/US Forest Service land and started Sunday after a possible lightning strike.
The fire is burning in steep terrain just south and east of Tanner Peak and Oak Creek Grade. A few slurry drops were made Monday on the fire.
There is no word yet on any containment.
