The local run of this year's Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour raised more than $27,000 for a mountain-inspired nonprofit.
Hosted for the past 11 years by local outfitter Mountain Chalet, the annual spate of mountain and extreme sports films sold out both nights earlier this month. Proceeds benefited Rocky Mountain Field Institute, a Colorado Springs-based organization dedicated to conservation and stewardship of public lands in southern Colorado.
"RMFI's focus on our public lands - through stewardship, education and research - is vitally important. They are a local, grassroots organization that actually gets dirty on the trails and produces results everyone can see and benefit from," shop co-owner, Jim Smith said on the Mountain Chalet website.
