CHICAGO (AP) — The latest addition to the Field Museum's meteorite collection is a bright green specimen from southern Morocco.

The Field Museum says meteorites are usually black or grey, that's why this one is different. It's more gem-like. It was found in early 2012 and museum officials say it likely came from an asteroid in the space between Mars and Jupiter.

Scientists with the museum say it will let them better study the diversity of planets in the Earth's solar system.

A private collector donated the specimen.
