Fort Carson authorities are investigating the Friday death of an eighth-grade student found in a restroom of the middle school on post.

No details were released about how the Carson Middle School student died.

"There is no danger or threat to the community at this time," Fort Carson said in a statement. "A thorough investigation is being completed into the events surrounding yesterday's tragedy."

Officials at Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8, which includes the school, said the boy was found unresponsive in a restroom in the afternoon and was taken to Evans Army Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

"Our deepest condolences go out to the family, the friends, the staff and the Fountain-Fort Carson community for this loss," the district said.

Fort Carson officials said counseling services would be available for students at the school.

The post indicated that the student could be a military dependent.

"Fort Carson is saddened by the loss of one of our young family members, a student at Carson Middle School," the post said.
