A Colorado College graduate will become the next Head of School at The Colorado Springs School, a private pre-K-12 school.

Aaron Schubach has accepted an offer, the school announced Monday. The seven members of the school's board of trustees unanimously approved his selection, following an extensive nationwide search.

Schubach earned his bachelor's degree from CC and a master's degree from St. John's College. He currently works as chairman of the history department at the Fountain Valley School, another local private school. He also taught for seven years at The Colorado Springs School.

Schubach's background, skills and experience matched the vision of the school and the experiential education it provides, according to the announcement. He was chosen out of 32 applicants, which were narrowed down to four semi-finalists.

Kevin Reel, the Head of School since 2007, retired last school year, and Nori Madrigal has been the interim leader.

Also, this will be the last year for Patti Nelson to lead the pre-K-5 grades known as The Children's School. She has been in that position for 11 years.
