GORHAM, N.H. (AP) — The Mount Washington Observatory is offering visitors a new look at its extreme weather on the summit.

Gov. Maggie Hassan and others are speaking at the observatory's "Extreme Mount Washington" grand opening celebration Friday, highlighting its important role in New Hampshire's economy and tourism, and its contributions to weather, climate research and education.

The exhibit offers visitors a hands-on, interactive experience of the "World's Worst Weather" that Mount Washington is known for. And, true to form, celebrants were getting a taste of that Friday — the weather was bad enough to close the Auto Road and move the ceremony down from the summit.
