One man was arrested following an explosion in a Colorado Springs apartment complex that police said may have been caused by hash oil manufacturing.

Lee Ray Brown, 51, was arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession and manufacturing of a controlled substance, offenses relating to marijuana and marijuana concentrate; keeping, maintaining, controlling, renting or making available property for unlawful distribution or manufacture of controlled substances, and reckless endangerment, according to police.

Brown allegedly admitted to police and fire crews that he lived in an apartment on the 300 block of University Drive, off Airport Road, where an explosion was reported about 9:45 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Investigators recovered evidence police said may indicate Lee and an unidentified 29-year-old male were using butane fuel to make hash oil, a high potency extract of marijuana. During the process, the fuel may have ignited, causing a significant explosion.

Lee and the second man were not injured, police said.
