Tax credits for 2013 are available for those who want to make an eligible contribution to one of more than 40 nonprofit agencies throughout the El Paso County Enterprise Zone.
A state income tax credit equal to 25 percent of monetary contributions is available to anyone who mails or drops off a check for an eligible project by Dec. 31.
The agencies and projects have been approved for their role in implementing the economic development plan of the Enterprise Zone program, which encourages businesses to locate and expand in economically distressed areas around the state. Eligible projects range from non-profit business organizations to human services agencies, Clark said, and include the Care & Share Food Bank, the Pikes Peak Library District Foundation and the Space Foundation.
A full list of eligible projects can be found on the county's website, www.elpasoco.com. Checks should be made payable to the El Paso County Enterprise Zone, and should include the name of the project or agency on the memo line. Checks can be dropped off or and mailed to the El Paso County Enterprise Zone Office on the main level of Centennial Hall, located at 200 S. Cascade Avenue. If mailed, checks must be postmarked by Dec. 31.
