The grand opening of the new, $13.5 million Encounter Africa exhibit at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has been postponed until Friday , due to weather.

A winter storm is expected to bring chilly temperatures and snow Wednesday, the zoo's original grand opening date. Encounter Africa's largest residents, the zoo's family of four African elephants, cannot be outside in temperatures under 40 degrees.

The Friday ceremony will begin with a 10 a.m. ribboncutting.
