A 79-year-old woman was attacked and choked by a man in an elevator in her apartment complex, Colorado Springs police said.
The man was arrested on suspicion of assault on an at-risk adult, but his identity has not been released by police, except to say that he was also a resident of the Regency Tower Apartments, west of South 8th Street.
The incident happened at 5 p.m. Tuesday and although the victim could not provide a description of her attacker, witnesses in the lobby were able to give accounts of the incident to police, said Barbara Miller, police spokewoman.
The victim, whose identity was not released, told police she tried to fight off the attacker but he was too strong. Two men in the lobby reportedly pulled the attacker off her and helped her to safety, police said.
Police did not give further details on the extent of the woman's injuries or the circumstances leading up to the attack.
