An eight-vehicle crash involving a semi trailer temporarily closed part of Interstate 25 Wednesday evening.

Colorado State Patrol troopers said the crash happened just south of Monument at 4:38 p.m. on southbound I-25 at Baptist Road. Southbound drivers were detoured over Baptist Road until the freeway reopened.

The Colorado Department of Transportation said traffic was flowing freely at 7:30 p.m.

No fatalities had been reported, but it was unknown if people had been injured.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
