Early morning crash on Powers Boulevard in Colorado Springs injures two

A single-car crash that seriously injured two people shut down Powers Boulevard for about three hours early Monday, Colorado Springs police said.

The driver, identified as 23-year-old Marcus Anthony, was ticket on suspicion of careless driving resulting in injury and released, police said.

About 1 a.m. a vehicle traveling south on Powers Boulevard lost control at Palmer Park Boulevard, veered off the west side of the road and struck a sign, severely damaging the car.

Two passengers suffered serious injuries and were treated at a hospital. They were expected recover, police said. A third passenger also was taken to a hospital, but did not appear to have suffered any injuries.

Southbound Powers Boulevard was closed from Palmer Park Boulevard to Galley Road until about 4:15 a.m., police said.
