Shelby Bess, 21, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence early Monday morning when Colorado Springs police said she struck a utility pole, damaging traffic signals at Union Boulevard and Austin Bluffs Parkway.

Shortly before 3 a.m. Monday, police cleared a wreck between a Chevy Cavalier and a utility pole on Austin Bluffs Parkway. The driver, identified as Bess, suffered only minor injuries, police said.

The traffic lights flashed red until almost 4 a.m., when Colorado Springs Utilities crews fixed them.
