A driver police described as inexperienced crashed a car into a house in east Colorado Springs Sunday, according to police.

The driver was cited for careless driving and compulsory insurance, police said.

One person was home about 6:20 p.m on the 500 block of Welsh Circle when a light blue Buick Regal ran off the road, onto a front lawn and struck the residence, causing considerable structural damage, police said.

Investigators discovered the Buick had been traveling northwest on Welsh Circle from Kyle Lane and lost control after the driver failed to turn at a curve, according to police.

Driver inexperience was believed to be a factor in the wreck, police said.

There were no injuries as a result of the collision.
