Colorado Springs police arrested a man Friday after he allegedly tried to flee the scene of a car crash in his damaged vehicle, leading cops on a short pursuit.

Ronald Medina-Mejia, 34, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, felony eluding and several other traffic violations, police said. He was booked into the El Paso County jail, court records show.

According to police, Medina-Mejia was one of the drivers in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of East Platte Avenue and North Circle Drive at about 5:30 p.m. Friday.

As officers investigated the crash, Medina-Mejia got back into his car and sped away, causing his vehicle to spin 360 degrees on the rain-soaked intersection.

Police caught up to Medina-Mejia in the 3200 block of East Platte Avenue, where they took him into custody.
