RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — Black Hills National Forest officials say the draft environmental impact statement for a 230 kilovolt transmission line project from northeastern Wyoming to the Rapid City area is ready for public review and comment.

The line would connect the Teckla Substation in Campbell County, Wyo., to the Osage Substation in Weston County, Wyo., and the Lange Substation in Pennington County.

The Forest Service says the transmission line would strengthen the transmission network, improve transmission system reliability and help meet future demand for electricity and economic development in the region.

The route crosses private, state and public lands, including lands managed by the Black Hills National Forest, Thunder Basin National Grassland, Wyoming Bureau of Land Management High Plains District and the state of Wyoming.

Public meetings are scheduled for later this month.
