An argument outside a downtown Colorado Springs nightclub resulted in an arrest after police said a man walked up and threatened someone with a handgun.

The incident began around 1:15 a.m. on the corner Tejon Street and East Pikes Peak Avenue, just as Downtown Area Response Team officers were patrolling nearby, police said.

Eddie Lightsey, 26, was arrested on suspicion of felony menacing and possession of a weapon by a previous offender, police said. He was booked into the El Paso County jail and held without bond, court records show.

Before being taken into custody, Lightsey allegedly got into a car and tried to flee from police, but they caught up to the vehicle shortly after. Officers reportedly found a semi-automatic firearm in the car and cited the driver, identified as 26-year-old Zachary Boatright, on suspicion of driving under the influence.
