Downtown lights up for Olympic celebration Friday

Friday, February 7

5-10 p.m.

Platte and Tejon, downtown Colorado Springs

Head downtown to kick-off the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games this Friday night. Take in the Opening Ceremony on the 17' LCD television screen and demos from the Flying Aces ski aerialists.

FREE family sports celebration fun for all ages, including:

  • Extreme snowmobile jumping featuring eight-time X-Games champion, Heath Frisby (Special thanks to Sam & Kathy Guadagnoli)
  • Short & Sweet Downtown Dash: 1-mile family fun glow run
  • Dog-sled demonstrations
  • KOAA live news broadcast of the Opening Ceremony
  • Torch lighting by 2008 Women's Wrestling Olympic Bronze Medalist, Randi Miller 
  • Live music by Austin Young and Grant Sabin
  • First Friday Art Walk displays
  • Olympic sport information booths
  • Budweiser beer garden
  • Ice climbing demonstrations & interactive ice climbing by City Rock
