Downtown Colorado Springs burger restaurants closer to opening

By Ned Hunter Updated: March 4, 2014 at 1:28 pm

A wooden bench has been built out front.

The menus are now taped to the windows.

The Skirted Heifer gets closer to opening each day, as workers continue to renovate the building at 204 N. Tejon St., the former home of La Creperie. The future restaurant is owned by Kevin and Suzette Megyeri who also own and operate Bambino’s Pizza.

Down the street, brown paper that once covered the windows to the future home of Bingo Burgers has been removed, as the downtown burger war expands.

That restaurant is owned by Richard Warner, who opened his first Bingo Burger in Pueblo four years ago. Workers at Bingo’s future home said Monday they expect finish renovations to that building by the end of May, if not sooner.

When the two restaurants open, they will add to the downtown burger choices that already include Gasoline Alley, McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Carl’s Jr., and Tony’s Downtown Bar.

Most of the windows on Tony’s new location remained covered Monday, canceling how much work remains to be done on the new location.
