Downtown Brewer's Republic reincarnated as even better pub

It's tough to describe what made the former Brewer's Republic so special; something about the cozy environment, the people and, of course, the beer. Whatever it was, it's returning to the new Brewer's Republic, now a Cerberus Brewing Co. taproom, and no doubt in good hands after the establishment closed in December due to the previous owner's fire code violations. "Welcome Back to Brewer's!" the chalkboard reads. Indeed, welcome back to the sudsy haven. The taps have been upgraded to add the top-shelf brews of Cerberus to the long list of other craft choices. Lovers of Cerberus' gourmet pub grub should enjoy the menu created by the same chef, this one featuring subs and pizzas.

TV tonight

As "The Walking Dead" returns to resume its eighth season, our mood is somber. That's because the last time we were in the company of our zombie apocalypse survivors, poor Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) had been chomped on by a walker. 7 p.m., AMC
