The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is investigating a death in Manitou Springs.

Just before 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers from the Manitou Springs Police Department were dispatched to Waltham Avenue. There, police discovered a deceased adult female, according to Lt. Jeff Kramer, a spokesman for the sheriff's office.

Manitou Springs police contacted the El Paso County Sheriff's Office and asked detectives to respond, enacting a memorandum previously established to investigate major crimes.

"Detectives are in the early stages of the death investigation and due to the sensitive nature of the case, no additional details can be shared at this time," Kramer said.

The victim's identity will not be released until next of kin has been notified and an autopsy has been completed by the El Paso County Coroner's Office, Kramer said.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call the sheriff's office at 390-5555.
