Shatzer, other seniors thankful for fans

Saturday's home finale was also Senior Night and goalie Derek Shatzer and the other five seniors in the Colorado College hockey program received one last standing ovation from The Broadmoor World Arena crowd.

"A lot of the fans have been really great," Shatzer said recently. "They are what have made my time at CC so special. They have been such a great support system for all of us. We are so thankful for all their support."

Some of Shatzer's personal highlights include being part of the Gold Pan-winning team as a freshman, taking part in last year's Battle on Blake outdoor game and recording his first college win at New Hampshire this past fall.

"I am really happy it worked out that I ended up here in Colorado," said Shatzer, who joined the National Collegiate Hockey Conference program in January 2013.

The seniors honored were: captain Sam Rothstein, assistant captain Luc Gerdes, student assistant Zach Aman, forwards Matt Hansen and Christian Heil, and Shatzer.
