SILVERTHORNE — A Denver man is dead after being thrown from a raft in Summit County.

Seventy-year-old Charles Emery was rafting with eight other people on the Blue River north of Silverthorne on Sunday afternoon when he was ejected.

The circumstances aren't clear. Charles Pitman of the Summit County Rescue Group says the other eight passengers also ended up in the water but were quickly found. One was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

The raft was privately owned and not from an outfitter.
