A dense fog advisory for the Colorado Springs area remains in effect until 8 a.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

Several flights out of the Colorado Springs Airport have been cancelled because of the fog, including departures to Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Houston and Denver.

Light snow, freezing drizzle and fog could greet Monday morning commuters in Colorado Springs, as the National Weather Service forecast called for up to an inch of fresh powder over the region.

Half an inch could fall overnight while another half-inch may be likely Monday, mainly after 5 p.m., meteorologist Kyle Mozley said. Temperatures will be in the mid-to-upper 20s, dropping to the mid-teens Monday night, according to the weather service.

Winter systems were moving across the Pikes Peak region Sunday night with pockets of snow, but causing no major disturbances in Colorado Springs, Mozley said.

Daytime temperatures were expected to rise starting Tuesday through the rest of the week, possibly reaching as high as 55 degrees on Wednesday with clear conditions and sunny skies, Mozley said.

A hazardous weather outlook was issued for higher elevations in El Paso, Fremont and Teller counties, with up to seven inches of snow predicted for the central mountains with strong winds up to 60 mph, the weather service announced.
