The board of education of the Cripple Creek-Victor School District RE-1 will not vote at its Aug. 26 meeting to refer a redistricting measure to the Nov. 5 ballot as planned, said James B. "Brent" Kennedy, acting board president.

The board missed a crucial deadline in the state school statutes regarding ballot issues, Kennedy said, and at the advice of its attorney will hold off.

Board members were mulling whether to ask voters to remove geographic boundaries for its five board seats and switch to an all at-large form of representation.

All five seats are up for election in the fall, and interested candidates have until Aug. 30 to submit an application. For more information, contact Jean Olmsted, 689-2685, or go to www.ccvschools.org.
