A fire broke out at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Friday morning, the Colorado Springs Fire Department said, but there was no danger to any of the animals.
The fire started shortly after 7 a.m., fire department spokesman Capt. Steve Oswald said, and took place in the basement of the Zoo's gift shop. The fire was under control in less than 15 minutes once firefighters arrived on scene, Oswald said, adding that there were no reported injuries to employees or animals.
Zoo spokeswoman Erica Meyer said the Zoo would be open at 9 a.m.
