A Colorado Springs man was held up at gunpoint when he thought he was meeting up for a Craigslist transaction at an apartment complex Sunday.

Police said the victim responded to an ad on the website to purchase a computer and was told to meet the seller at The Vista Verde Apartments off Academy and Fountain boulevards shortly before 10 p.m.

Three men armed with handguns ambushed him at a hallways and demanded his money, but he was able to flee without getting hurt, police said.

Anyone with information can call police at 444-7000 or Crime Stoppers and 634-STOP.

Police remind the public to always respond to online ads in public places and to make sure there are witnesses.
