Comics, as it turns out, are not a laughing matter.

We asked for your input last month during a comics survey, and you didn't disappoint. We received hundreds of ballots each day, and several large bins were filled to the brim. Folks from all over the building had to pitch in so that we could get the votes tabulated.

In all, we received more than 6,000 surveys - a much larger response than we expected. One representative of a national syndicate that distributes numerous comic strips told us that the amount of feedback on our survey was as large as he had seen.

While the votes have been counted and the results are final, the release of the new lineup has been delayed one week due to production issues. Four new comic strips will be unveiled May 12, replacing four current ones.

We appreciate your patience and your high interest in this funny business.
