LITTLETON — Officials at Roxborough State Park have agreed to refund a $50 trespassing ticket given to a woman and her husband while they were visiting a memorial to their cousin who was killed in the Columbine High School massacre.

Rhonda Haggerty's cousin, Kyle Velasquez, was killed during the shootings at Columbine in 1999, along with 12 others. Park officials say Haggerty violated park rules March 21 when she walked across a designated natural area at the site of 13 crosses built in the park to memorialize the tragedy.

According to KUSA-TV ( ), the couple explained to park rangers who they were and they got a ticket anyway.

Haggerty says she spoke to the head ranger of the park on Wednesday and he agreed to refund the ticket.
