BOULDER - A teen accused of bringing an explosive device to his Lafayette high school could be charged as an adult.

The teen is scheduled for a juvenile detention hearing on Wednesday. He hasn't been identified because he is a juvenile.

Boulder County District Attorney Stan Garnett told the Daily Camera (http://bit.ly/10nAaXw ) prosecutors are considering adult charges as they review the case against the 16-year-old Centaurus High School student.

Garnett said they need to find out more about the teen and the factors behind what happened. He said prosecutors would ask for more time to consider charges.

The device, which was similar to a pipe bomb, was in a paper bag and found by a teacher Monday. The teacher took it outside and the bomb squad later detonated it.
