A Lafayette middle school teacher is on paid leave pending the outcome of a police investigation into allegations that she assaulted a student who refused to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance.
Boulder Valley School District spokesman Randy Barber said that Angevine Middle School physical education teacher Karen Smith, who he called a 20-year veteran of the school district, is on paid administrative leave.
Smith couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
Lafayette police Cmdr. Brian Rosipajla confirmed that officers responded to the school, 1150 W. South Boulder Road, at about noon Thursday.
