A Colorado Springs woman told police she was sexually assaulted about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday when a stranger knocked on the door of her residence and forced his way in after she answered, according to a police report.

It was the third sexual assault reported to Colorado Springs police this week, but the report said the latest incident didn't appear to be related to the others.

Wednesday's assault took place in the 3900 block of East Bijou Street, on the Springs' east side, the police report said.

The woman told police that once inside, the unknown man struck her, knocked her to the ground and assaulted her. Police interviewed the woman about 4:20 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Hospital. The Police Department's Adult Sex Assault Unit is assisting with the investigation.

Police described the suspect as a male, about 5 feet, 7 inches, with a stocky build and physically fit. He had short, spiked hair, blue eyes and his teeth were brown. He was wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans and black Nike shoes.
