An 18-year-old Colorado Springs man was accused of soliciting dozens of juvenile girls for sex through online media, police said.

Steven Douglas Leeper was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of sexual exploitation of a child, solicitation for child prostitution, inducement of child prostitution, patronizing a prostituted child, internet luring of a child, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and criminal extortion, court records show.

Colorado Springs police believe there are as many as 200 victims. The investigation was launched in December. Leeper allegedly contacted women, minors and adults, through social media websites such as Facebook and MeetMe, and asked for sexually explicit pictures and videos, police said.

The online contact often led to requests personal meetings for sex, which Leeper allegedly offered to pay for, police said.

Investigators believe there could be additional victims who they have not contacted.

Leeper was held at the El Paso County jail with a first appearance scheduled for Feb. 18, court records show.

Anyone with information can call police at 444-7000.
