A 19-year-old suspected of driving drunk was arrested Wednesday night after crashing his car into an apartment patio, according to Colorado Springs police.

Elvis Mendez, of Colorado Springs, was arrested on suspicion of careless driving, DUI and multiple hit and run charges, police said.

Mendez was reportedly trying to park his 1995 Honda Accord outside the Beverly Place Apartments on Burton Way about 9 p.m. Wednesday when he lost control of the vehicle and hit another car, police said. His vehicle then ran over the curb and drove into a ground floor patio, police said.

No one was injured and Mendez reportedly stayed by his car until police arrived and he tried to run. Police followed him to an apartment in the same complex and arrested him.
