The owner of several Colorado Springs tanning salons pleaded guilty Friday to filing a false tax return, according to court documents filed in federal court. Lisabeth Melahn, owner of Tan Your Hide, was indicted in March on charges of filing false tax returns for multiple years after an investigation by the Internal Revenue Service.
She pleaded guilty to submitting a false return for the 2008 year, according to her plea agreement.
Melahn will pay $239,876 in restitution to the IRS for taxes owed between 2007 and 2010, the agreement said.
Remaining charges listed in the indictment would be dismissed at the time of sentencing, according to the agreement.
Between 2007 and 2010 Tan Your Hide had seven tanning salons in Colorado Springs and one in Monument, according to court papers.
Melahn controlled operations and made final financial decisions for the businesses, the agreement said.
The case was filed in U.S. District Court in Denver.
