The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC revealed their official logo Thursday night.
Local marketing firm Vladimir Jones came up with eight designs for the soccer team before landing on what will be the official crest. The basic foundation of the logo began with an 'S' shape before adding numerous factors to represent the city, such as the five red stripes at the bottom which represent each branch of the military.
"The logo process took about eight weeks," Switchbacks president Nick Ragain said. "There were a number of back-and-forth conversations about who we are, what Colorado Springs is, how we tie together and how we fit together. Really, this is a culmination of all those things."
The USL Pro league team doesn't begin competition until March, but gave fans a sample of what's to come by unveiling the program's official logo at the Ivywild School in front of 250 people in attendance.
Held in the previous elementary school's gym, the event featured catered food, Bristol beers, a disc jockey and a merchandise booth selling T-shirts, bandanas and scarves with the new logo.
"We worked real hard to get people here for the logo reveal because it's exciting," Ragain said. "It's a fun event and we just want to build momentum to next year."
