The Colorado Springs Sky Sox dropped the series opener vs. the Round Rock Express 8-6 Saturday. The Express improve to 2-7 with the Sky Sox falling to 6-2.
The Express didn't lead until the eighth inning.
Colorado Springs scored four runs in the first two innings, with Keon Broxton being in on three via a two-run homer, and scoring after his double and two sacrifices.
The Sky Sox's 4-1 lead was short-lived, as the Express scored three in the top of the third to even the score 4-4. The Sky Sox retook a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the fifth, compliments of Mauricio Dubon. Dubon roped a double, stole third and scored on a wild pitch from Austin Bibens-Dirkx. Later, Brett Phillips lined a triple to the right-center field gap, scoring two batters later on a Tyrone Taylor single to make it 6-4. The Express took it from there.
