Carlos Echeandia and wife Marcia, owners of Carlos' Bistro, 1025 S. 21st St., are as excited as children on Christmas morning. And why not? For the second consecutive year, their fine dining establishment earned the top score in the 2014 Zagat Survey America's Top Restaurants.
The restaurant was named the No. 1 restaurant in Colorado with 29 points for food, 25 points for decor and 28 points for service out of a perfect 30 points.
Other Colorado Springs restaurants listed in the guide are the Penrose Room at The Broadmoor in fifth place and Walter's Bistro in 15th place.

Chris Bohler, chef and co-owner of The Villa Palmer Lake, 75 Colorado 105, Palmer Lake, has rolled out a new fall menu that is moving away from the core Italian dishes.
"Although our customers are enjoying our Italian fare, they have also requested that we add some of their favorites from when we owned the B&E," said Kerri Bohler, co-owner of the restaurant, on their FaceBook page. "And who are we to say 'no'?"
Also new: Wine Lovers' Night on Tuesdays with bottles of wine at half price; and Local's Night, when you can get a $10 buffet ($5 for kids under 10) with choice of two pastas, fresh-baked focaccia, salad and dessert.
