Sheena Ann Puterbaugh, 27, of Colorado Springs, was identified as one of the two women who died in a head-on collision that also sent a man to the hospital with critical injuries Sunday.

The wreck happened about 5 p.m. on the Martin Luther King Jr. bypass west of Circle Drive. Colorado Springs police said an eastbound gray Toyota, driven by Puterbaugh, crossed over the median and struck a maroon Buick traveling west on the bypass.

Police have not released the names of the driver of the Buick, who underwent surgery at Memorial Hospital, or the female passenger who died, pending next-of-kin notification.

All westbound lanes of the bypass were closed until about 10:30 p.m. and police said the wreck remained under investigation.
