A driver who allegedly struck a police car with an officer inside remained at large Sunday, Colorado Springs police said.

Police tracked a reported stolen vehicle to the area of South Murray Boulevard and South Chelton Road about 9:25 p.m., but its driver sped away and officers did not pursue, police said.

The vehicle was found parked in a residential driveway on the 4500 block of Fenton Road a few minutes later and police stopped behind it, when the driver allegedly set the car in reverse and accelerated, ramming the marked police car with an officer at the driver's seat and fled again, police said.

Shortly after the vehicle was found in a nearby neighborhood a passenger was detained, but police said the driver was not found.

The police officer was not injured and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information can call police at 444-7000.
