The driver of a truck reported stolen managed to ellude police Wednesday, ditching the vehicle in a Colorado Springs residential neighborhood.

Police first tried to stop the grey Dodge truck about 11 p.m. Tuesday near Nevada Avenue when they confirmed it had been stolen, but the driver fled northbound on Interstate 25 from the Tejon Street on-ramp, police said.

For the safety of other motorists, police did not pursue the stolen truck.

About 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, the stolen vehicle was spotted at the intersection of Fillmore Street and the northbound I-25 exit ramp, where officers followed the driver into a residential neighborhood west of the interstate, according to police reports.

The truck was found parked in a cul-de-sac near Chestnut Street and Prestonwood Drive, but the driver was gone, police said.

The truck was processed for evidence and returned to its owner, without damage.

Anyone with information can call police at 444-7000.
