A 55-year-old man allegedly involved in a dispute with a woman is wanted by Colorado Springs police on suspicion of domestic violence.

Police said Mertis Smith and a woman were involved in a verbal incident that escalated when Smith allegedly physically prevented the woman from leaving a home on the 1500 block of Monterey Road around 11:35 p.m. Police did not disclose the relationship between Smith and the woman.

Police said that the woman was removed safely from the home, but that they were not able to locate Smith, after he was contacted by phone.
