A thief apparently broke into a restaurant, tunneled through a wall and stole several marijuana plants from a dispensary early Friday morning only to get arrested about an hour later.

Craig M. Stevens, 43, was arrested by Colorado Springs police near the intersection of Prairie Road and East Boulder Street.

According to police, Stevens allegedly broke into the Birria De Chivo Mexican restaurant on Platte Avenue shortly after 2 a.m., made his way to the restroom, got out some tools and began removing the sink. The alleged burglar broke through the wall the leads to the Organic Seed marijuana dispensary and entered the pot shop where he took several plants, police said.

Once officers arrived they spotted a man walking northbound on Prairie Road. They confronted Stevens, who fit the suspect description and took him into custody on suspicion of burglary, criminal mischief and other related offenses. Stevens was taken to the El Paso County jail.
