Colorado Springs police looking for carjackers who shot driver

Police are looking for two carjackers after they shot another man twice in the leg during the robbery Friday morning east of downtown Colorado Springs.

The carjacking occurred just after midnight in the 500 block of Hancock Avenue near Prospect Lake.

According to police, the victim was sitting in his vehicle when the two men approached. One of them pointed a black semi-automatic handgun at the victim and told him to get out of the vehicle.

When he did, the robber pointed the gun at the man's legs and fired three rounds, police said. Two of the bullets hit the man in the lower leg and he was later taken to an area hospital with "non-life threatening injuries."

The two men got away. Police were still searching for the pair shortly after noon Friday.
