Police are investigating the death of a 3-year-old girl who was found unresponsive in a Colorado Springs home last week.
Officers went to a home in the 3700 block of Ensenada Drive on Oct. 2 to investigate the circumstances that led Bella Ritch to become unresponsive. She was taken to a local hospital, where she died.
The Crimes Against Children Unit is leading the investigation, which is "customary in situations involving the unattended deaths of children," police said in a news release.
Bella attended Corpus Christi Catholic School in Colorado Springs, and the school established a GoFundMe page to raise money to cover expenses for her funeral, interment and columbarium site. The page has raised more than $9,000 - well above its goal of $5,000.
Karen Shannahan, admissions director, set up the page, writing: "Bella was taken from us too soon. She was a joyful child inside and out. Bella put a smile on everyone's face."
