Colorado Springs police are investigating a exchange of gunshots that happened Thursday evening and left two apartments and one vehicle riddled with bullet holes.

According to witnesses near the Citadel Apartments where the incident occurred, a vehicle drove past and a person in the vehicle fired "several rounds toward the building."

They told police that a man returned fire from the third floor before the vehicle left the area via Galley Road, just north of The Citadel mall. The man also ran from the scene and headed north, police said.

Police are looking for a "smaller white vehicle. Few details are available about the occupants of the vehicle and of the man who shot from the third floor.

Anyone with information that could help police should call 444-7000.
