Colorado Springs police investigate attempted child enticement

By Andrea Sinclair Published: June 10, 2013

Colorado Springs police are investigating an attempted child enticement report from Sunday after an unidentified man allegedly approached two kids and offered them candy.

Shortly before 9 p.m. two children, ages 8 and 10, were riding their bikes on North Walnut Street near Buena Ventura Street when a man pulled up in a red or maroon SUV, police said.

According to police, the man asked the children if they wanted candy. Both kids rode away through a grassy area, where the man's vehicle could not follow them.

The children told police they had attended a "stranger-danger" class at school, which taught them how to respond to the situation.

Police described the man between 30 to 40 years of age, bald, possibly driving a red or maroon Ford Explorer or Expedition.

Anyone with information should call 444-7000 or Pikes Peak Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP (7867).
