Police are investigating reports of an early morning shooting at a convenience store just north of downtown Colorado Springs.

An unidentified man reportedly fired several rounds from a handgun at the 7-Eleven's parking lot on the intersection of Platte and Wahsatch avenues about 2:15 a.m. Sunday, according to police reports.

The store clerk told police that a red coupe and a gray SUV were possibly involved in the shooting, but it was unclear what happened, police said.

The occupants of the SUV returned to the parking lot about 3:30 a.m. and reported the vehicle had been shot at twice on the passenger side, but no injuries were reported, police said.

Anyone with information can call police at 444-7000.
